This, ladies and gentlemen, this is a self-portrait of one of Endzone Software’s very own senior developers… Ondřej Piálek.

Meet Simone Gribble (no, she's not a fictional cartoon… this is her self-portrait! You'll see the real Simone below).

Simone is in charge of finances and general admin duties here at Endzone Software. She’s great at crunching our numbers but that doesn’t mean she’s all work and no play.

It’s been awhile since the remote team at Endzone.io have got together IRL / AFK (in real life / away from keyboard…in person) so I think everyone was excited about the prospect of three whole weeks in a Coworking, Co-living environment. Right?

We decided on Bansko, a small mountain town in Bulgaria for our meet up. This was largely driven by the existence of Coworking Bansko, a great working space with a community feel.

We hacked Bansko.

Okay, not really. Every meetup we set aside a weekend for a company hackathon. What we hack depends on what we’re interested in at the time. Whatever we choose, we work hard, eat lots, have fun and achieve stuff. Simone makes pancakes.

Post hackathon (and the fact that it was Christie’s first weekend in Bansko) called for some tourist action. Maybe even something Bulgarian. You need some background.

This is Irina. She runs Coworking Bansko and she’s awesome. She adopted us during our meetup and now she’s our new best friend forever. 

Our second week in Funchal has been full of food, work, food, swimming, food, road trips and more food.

Now that we’re in a large apartment in the middle of the town, all the restaurants of Funchal are within about a two minute walk. This has made for a lot more eating out. Filipe knows all the best places to eat in town (not just the cheapest but the best value!)

It turns out that when you’re trying to code and work on new products, one should be a bit like a vampire and try to avoid direct sunlight. Our team meet up in Funchal, Madeira, so far has been a success. We chose Madeira due to it’s southern location (November in Europe does not entice one to wear shorts in most places) and the fact that our newest staff member, Filipe, is local and has doubled as programmer and tour guide.

Sometimes it seems like there are more people calling themselves web developers than there are sites on the web. It can be overwhelming trying to sift through them all to find a team that's the best fit to put your ideas into action and create something that not only works, but has real social impact.
