Going wrong with a wimper

"Things going wrong with a bang make you sit up and pay attention, and switch into emergency action mode with the right level of urgency and clear priorities.

Things going wrong with a whimper drain you of energy and motivation and draw you into a spiral of demotivation and general suckage." [1]

Although this quote wasn't talking about the big climate and biodiversity crises we are facing, it is extremely relevant.

Currently (pandemic's aside), most of our lives are pretty good. The "crises" I mentioned above are not hitting us like a car accident. They are a creeping change to our baselines [2].

That is an important distinction to acknowledge.
